About The Game

Cult of Pin is my own take on classic 90s pinball. It started as a response to my own nostalgia being replaced with frustration at just how punishing those old games actually were when I went back and replayed some of them recently. I wanted to make something I could play and actually "win" -and a deep love for roguelikes and a recent Balatro addiction naturally made themselves at home along the way.

There wasn't a grand "vision" at the start - I just wanted something fun that felt a bit different each time I played. It’s regular pinball, but with the option to make strategic choices. There’s no deep lore about why these tables are cursed really - I just thought it looked cool and felt satisfying to smash things and watch big damage numbers fly around the screen.

The real game isn't particularly about using flippers to move a ball either - it’s more so the deckbuilding. Once you’ve destroyed the bumpers, you access a shop featuring 150+ incremental upgrades (Glyphs) and unlock one of many Blessings - powerful perks picked between rounds.

When the bumpers respawn at the end of each round, it is with higher HP and your goal is to find synergies that at the very least keep pace with the increase. It’s meant to be played with an experimental mindset, and if you create a combo that feels like it melts the table, you’re doing it right.

To add to the experience, standard pinball "missions" trigger Special Attacks instead of just points. From AoE damage to Multiball, these are high-intensity moments where a good build will wreak havoc on the board for a period of time.

In the Game:

  • Destructible Tables: Every bumper has a health bar, and you hit them all until they explode, clearing the stage.

  • 150+ Upgrades: Mix and match Glyphs and Blessings to create devastating combos, all while navigating Curses that try to ruin your run.

  • 8 Unlockable Balls: Each has unique physics, passive abilities and special attacks (Rituals).

  • 4 Tables: Distinct layouts, Boss fights and missions that turn a standard game into a constant battle.

Timeline

The plan is to release on Steam in Summer 2026 (early June if the stars align), with Xbox and Switch ports following a few months later. I’ll be announcing the firm release date in April 2026.

About the Studio

KennyMakesGames is the operating name of me, Kenny (surprise, surprise) - a Solo Developer from Scotland. I have been working in Games for 12 years as a Tech Artist, Programmer & Lead Developer for various different studios over the years.

I have worked on a number of AA titles across PC and Console platforms, and in 2018 released my first Solo title ‘oOo: Ascension’ on Xbox, PS4 and Switch that earned me Bafta Scotland and TIGA nominations at the time.

I live in Glasgow with my wife and daughter, and build games as a hobby as well as professionally. Cult of Pin was one of these hobby projects that grew arms and legs (and tentacles), and now seems a good fit for a commercial release.
